The biking roads are superb and are reminiscent of how English roads use to be in the 1950's and 60's; with little traffic, good surfaces, plenty of curves and wonderful countryside. Only 10 minutes from us is the famous Wispertal road, which is as close as you can get to a German version of the Isle of Man. It's very popular with bikers and it has numerous biker cafe's and hotels dotted here and there as you ride along it.
The largest motorcycle auto jumbles in Europe are held twice a year at Ludwigshafen and Mannheim. Koblenz caters for the indoor international trials competitions and many places like the small village of Bornich hold annual motorcycle rallies. Rüdesheim plays host to the huge Harley Davidson magic rally and is well worth a visit. This is all in a backdrop of historic castles and towns, rivers, forests, grasslands, winefields, tourist and spa towns, boat trips, cable cars, cafes, restaurants, museums, casinos, family run breweries, distilleries, animal and bird sanctuaries, harbours, sandy beaches, lakes and mountains. ![]() ![]()
There are two pleasure parks, Taunus Wunderland and Phantasialand, in the vicinity. Rock concerts are held on the Loreley and a huge five-day event called 'Rock on the Ring' takes over the Nürburgring. The latter was repudiated to have had over 100 bands playing last year on its 25th anniversary There is a lot of animals in the forest such as wild pigs, deer's and an amazing amount of eagles, buzzards, falcons, kites and owls.
